Indians should prepare for prolonged heatwave conditions, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns of soaring temperatures in the upcoming days. The IMD's latest weather bulletin, issued on Sunday, offers no respite from the scorching heat, indicating that the mercury is unlikely to drop anytime soon.

According to the IMD forecast, heatwave conditions will persist in pockets of Gangetic West Bengal and portions of Odisha over the next five days. Additionally, isolated heatwaves are predicted in Bihar, Jharkhand, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Regions including West Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura are expected to face hot and humid weather on April 28 and 29, while coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Konkan, and Goa may experience similar conditions from April 28 to May 2.

The IMD's projections also include weather variations across different regions. Arunachal Pradesh is likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall.

In central and southern India, isolated light rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are forecasted in central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on April 28.
